When you decide to arrange a party, there’s just so much to plan. The biggest thing though (apart from the decorations, cleaning up, party favours, amusements in the party to keep your guests entertained..) is the food that you’ll be serving.
The menu is so, so important. And the funny thing is..most people remember food served at parties. They’ll forget about the awesome tinsel garland you made, the posters you put up in a few months/years. But if the food is good..they’re going to remember it whenever your party is referred in conversation.
That’s how important food is.
But, don’t get stressed out or anything. It’s also pretty important to note that..first impressions are the most important. If your appetisers are great, it sets the flow for the meal.
But….you may be thinking. I just have too much to do, and I need something simple yet something yum which does the job! I don’t have time to make minuscule helpings of appetisers when I’ve got a full meal to think about…
Well, that’s where I’m heading to. Re-lax.
Here are some surely simple ideas that will guarantee you with pleased guests and they’re just really easy to prepare:
1. Chocolate cupcakes with sprinkles
1/ Buy some vanilla/chocolate chip cupcakes (muffins, if you prefer calling them that).
2/ Have a large pot of chocolate ganache prepared beforehand.
3/ Coat cupcakes with ganache (white/normal chocolate-both taste great) and add sprinkles on top.
4/ You’re done with the first appetizer!
1/ Buy instant jelly packet mixes in your preferred flavour.
2/ Make jelly and serve in individual containers (easy to dispose off too)
3/ Second appetizer done!
3. Mini cake squares on toothpicks
1/ Buy a nice fruit cake (i bought pineapple cake in slices).
2/ Coat with ganache made before; and again add a nice healthy dose of sprinkles.
3/ Cut the slices into small mini- squares.
4/ Add toothpicks on each one.
5/ Third appetizer done!
4. Pineapple-cheese-cherry trios on a stick
1/ You need pineapple cubes (you can buy them in tins), plenty of cheese, and a nice tin of preserved cherries.
2/ Cut them according to mini square portions (if necessary).
3/ Insert onto toothpick.
4/ Keep doing so until you have a lot of them. These are just too yummy to eat only one. Honest!
5. Homemade Chocolate
1/ Buy lots of homemade chocolate. It tastes very..well, homely. I bought some nutty chocolate flavours: cashews, almonds and some raisins too.
2/ Put them on a tray and well..watch them disappear.
(Sorry for this slightly vague pick..all the chocolates were eaten by the time I took a second look.)
And there you have it! Five easy to prepare appetizer ideas for a party!
P.S- I actually made all of these for a party a few months back (mostly because it was short notice), and I was pleasantly surprised by how everyone loved them. These actually work!
Try them out on a party and see-you’ll be able to enjoy yourself and your guests will love them too!
