DIY Valentine’s Day Gift Wrap

vegetable stamped gift wrap DIY

It’s so great to receive a customized gift! Well, I was thinking that even customized wrapping paper is also pretty cool. In fact, it’s cooler, because you get the customized aspect of the gift, and then..you get the actual gift! (Getting custom made/hand made gifts all the time is just a bit monotonous, don’t you think? Then a bit of consumerism has to settle.)

So, I was thinking of an easy and fun way to make some nice gift wrap for my Valentine’s day presents. And I came up with this:

Pretty, isn’t it? And it’s really simple, and just really fun to do. We all have a child in us, don’t we? Bring on the veggies! And paint!

 What you need:

1/Potatoes, carrots or any vegetable you can carve (Potatoes work best, from my experience)

2/ Paints (I used acrylic paints)

3/Plain sheets (I used A4 craft sheets because all my gifts were small in size)

4/A paintbrush

5/A knife

The steps are pretty simple.

  1. Cut the potato (or your choice veggie) in half first. Then in the fleshy bit, carve out the shape you want. This may be a little tricky at first, but you’ll get it.
  2. Hollow out the remaining parts so your shape juts out.
  3. Use the paintbrush to add some colour to the stamp you’ve created.
  4. Start stamping on the plain sheet!
  5. Repeat from step 3 until you’re done with the whole sheet.
