Today, we have Melike of Easy Interieur sharing her gorgeous Scandinavian inspired home with us! I’ve included pictures of her home from last winter and right now in spring to show you how versatile her decorating is. (Key: The darker tones are clearly winter times and the bright images are beckoning spring!) What is really captivating about this stylist is that she flawlessly switches styles with a minimal yet go big approach that makes all the difference. For example, on occasions and seasons, you can see a subtle shift in her decorating with added elements- sparkling lights, bunting etc- yet her signature style remains constant. I’d define her current style as a constant theme of greys, blush pinks, whites and wide spaces with a shifting emphasis for details thrown in. You just need to look at all the pictures below (I’ve purposely mixed them up for you to see the contrasting looks) to know what I’m talking about! I don’t know about you, but this post is just #homegoals. Enjoy! Let’s hear from Melike now…
1/ What makes your home a creative one?
Since we renovated our home and got new furniture, I got addicted to decorate our apartment, however and whenever I want. That’s what makes me stay creative and my home as well.
2/ What aspect of your home leaves you inspired most (and least too)?
The best way to fullfill yourself in being creative is to do what you love. This is the one fact that keeps my home inspired with no rules and no barriers.
3/ How would you describe your home style?
I love scandinavian design and everything that makes my life simple and beautiful. I wouldn’t say that I have a special style or something I go for, but the most important thing I try to manage is to create a home in my imagination, which matches into my budget.
{home theatre arrangements!}
4/ The biggest challenge you’ve faced so far regarding your home?
The biggest challenge was the renovation four years ago as we bought 2 apartments one above the over with the same floor plan and made a maisonette from it. We connected the 2 with a stairway from living room to bedroom. A wall penetration, from the upper apartment, was included to extend the living room.
5/ Something your house is full of?
Our home is full of love, accessories and of course, a lot of toys from the kids 😊
6/ If your house had to be named, what would you call it?
I think I would call it easy, like my nickname…
7/ What do you think is your favourite aspect in your house?
That my style is easy to understand and that people are able to do it like me.
8/ Biggest DIY you’ve ever attempted in the house?
Well the biggest DIY was to paint the whole walls, and that’s a lot of work in 126qm 😊
9/ How many times do you thinking of changing up the decor and arrangements?
I love to be outside but I love to be at home more, and I always need changes. That’s what makes me change it every day, not big changes- but small ones- adding some flowers or putting a book into a shelf is also a way of freshness.
10/ Do you think your creativity is linked to the way you live?
Yes of course, because everything I do, I do it with sense and reason, and thats what creativity stays for.
11/ Something that you love about your house and wouldn’t change for the world!
Every home has a story and an attended memory, which you can’t buy with money. Exactly this I wouldn’t change for the world.
And let’s have a rapid fire round (just because it’s fun!)…
1/ What are your creative hobbies?
Well, I love to do a lot of DIYs, like birthday decoration or wedding decoration, drawing and of course home decoration.
2/ What’s your favourite color? Book? Movie? Flower?
Black, grey, blush pink. Book and movies are changing. Tulips, amaryllis.
3/ If you were to write a book about yourself, what would you name it and why?
Important is what you do
4/ What does your name mean?
My real name Melike means in arabic- sultan’s wife or sovereign.
5/ Which is heavier- a ton of feathers or a ton of steel?
Both are the same for me 😊
6/ Three words to describe yourself.
Family first, ambitious, helpful
7/ When you were a child, what was your answer to the question: what do you want to be when you grow up?
It was dancer :)))
